The National insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) annual convention was held in September 2015 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

When I joined NIBA as Chief Executive Officer in mid 2011, our annual industry convention for that year in Sydney was well and truly planned and ready to roll. A great effort had been undertaken by the NIBA Convention Committee, with the strong support of WALDRONSMITH Management, who has been helping NIBA with the annual convention for many, many years. We repeated the effort the following year at Jupiters on the Gold Coast – a great time was had by all to celebrate the 30th annual NIBA Convention.
But we had a problem: delegate numbers were in decline, and sponsors and exhibitors were noticing. I am delighted and very grateful that we were able to work closely with WALDRONSMITH Management, and reshape and rebuild the annual NIBA Convention to something that is more attractive to industry delegates, and especially our industry supporters. NIBA has a long history of working with WALDRONSMITH Management, but instead of doing what we always did, I am so grateful that Kate and the team were prepared to work with us to challenge what we do, make the necessary changes and deliver an even better experience each year.

Dallas Booth, CEO NIBA

The Fertility Society of Australia is delighted that it will be extending its current 15 year relationship with WALDRONSMITH through to 2019 for both its association and conference management. Our long standing association with WALDRONSMITH has ensured the FSA has maintained an excellent level of service to its members and accredited units. It has also ensured the delivery of excellent scientific meetings during this period both at a national and international level. With our continued relationship we are securing the society’s growth and development for the foreseeable future.

Professor Michael Chapman, FSA President

It really has been great working on the arrangements for the Congress with the WALDRONSMITH Management team over the last few years. After much hard work by all, I think we can say that we delivered a fantastic event, which surpassed all our expectations. With over 2,300 participants, this was well above the 1,500 delegates, which, at one time, we were hopeful would attend. I think this is testament to the team we had working on the event; the Committee, WSM and the Colleges working together was a great team collaboration.

I would like to thank you all for the support that you have given the Scientific Committee and the RCOG / RANZCOG representatives and staff, both in the lead-up to the Congress as well as onsite – your professionalism and efficiency was certainly noted and appreciated your attention to detail and willingness to put forward new ideas were fantastic and greatly appreciated.

Kylie Grose – Manager – Office of the President and CEO – The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists

ICOMS 2015, the biennial conference of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons was successfully completed in October. I first met with Kate and Gerard in 2012 after we had been selected to host the conference in Melbourne. From our first meeting it was clear that we were dealing with a professional team of high standing. Kate rapidly understood our needs and together we began our 3 year journey. Together we established a marketing and development plan including attendance at 5 International Conferences for delegate boosting. Kate or a senior WALDRONSMITH Management representative accompanied and supported our Organising Committee members on these journeys. WSM had a breadth of talent across finances, sponsorship, abstract management and dealing with our very special invited guests was no trouble at all.

Onsite WALDRONSMITH Management easily managed all of the requirements, registration, liaison with MCEC, speaker preparation and IT. The social events, particularly our Discover Melbourne Function at Showtime will be remembered by all of the delegates for years to come. The night is already strongly included in ICOMS folklore as how to have a wonderful event that shows the vibrancy and diversity of our wonderful city. Overall a very exciting and enjoyable conference and coming from the Conference Chairman that is a strong recommendation for WALDRONSMITH Management.

The Energy Networks Association (ENA) held its biennial Conference and Exhibition, Energy Networks 2014, in Melbourne in May this year. The WALDRONSMITH Management team were our professional conference organisers for the event and we found them to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable and contributed in a large way to the success of the event. The team provided professional and efficient service and their substantial knowledge of the issues that had to be addressed provided ENA with confidence.

ENA staff and the WALDRONSMITH Management team formed a good working relationship and we will be working with them again for Energy Networks 2016 in Adelaide.

Joan Morrell – Company Secretary / Director, Corporate Services – Energy Networks Association – ENA 2014

In August 2014 we had the pleasure of hosting the International Association for Plant Biotechnology IAPB 2014 Congress in Melbourne. The professionalism, commitment to excellence, costumer focus and partnership approach of WALDRONSMITH Management made the organisation of IAPB 2014 such a smooth one, and were key ingredients of the success of the IAPB 2014 Congress.

The Joint World Conference on Social Work, Education and Social Development was held in July 2014 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Drawing together over 1500 delegates from 78 countries was an amazing effort and achievement. The WALDRONSMITH Management team was absolutely pivotal in ensuring this event was an enormous success.

Their expertise was evident at every point of the planning process. From the complexities of budget planning and monitoring both locally and with three international conference owners, through to anticipating every aspect of the scientific and social program, their knowledge of conference organising and people management was outstanding. Our thanks for their eye to detail, their calm presence and their deep commitment to making our event a huge success.

Throughout the days of the conference, the detail that had gone into planning created a seamless conference experience for our delegates. We could not have done this event without WALDRONSMITH Management and we have no hesitation in recommending WALDRONSMITH Management as the PCO to go to in the future.

The Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ) held its 2014 Annual Scientific Meeting at the Brisbane Convention Centre. This was the first time USANZ has worked with WALDRONSMITH Management and we have been very impressed with their performance throughout the planning phase and execution of the meeting. The WALDRONSMITH Management team were highly committed to meet the expectations of the USANZ Organising Committee to deliver a truly world class event. The WALDRONSMITH Management team delivered on all aspects of our meeting in a professional, timely manner and they quickly adapted to how USANZ functions as well as the various intricacies of our ASM and the exceptional level of attention paid to our international guests. Their work in overseeing and managing delegates, speakers, exhibitors, venues etc while maintaining a sound budget, allowed the Organising Committee to concentrate on the detailed nature of the scientific program. On behalf of the USANZ Organising Committee, I would like to extend our sincere thanks for an outstanding effort by the whole WALDRONSMITH ManagementWALDRONSMITH Management team. We look forward to working with WALDRONSMITH Management into the future.

Thank you very much for providing such sterling service as PCO of IGARSS 2013 in Melbourne. We would like to record our appreciation for the most professional way in which you prepared for this event, from the time of your initial involvement with the Symposium’s bid in 2007. Your commitment over the years to ensuring a successful outcome for this Symposium is testament to your true, professional nature. You addressed the many challenges we faced with grace and good humour and for that, we are most appreciative.

Could you also please pass on our thanks to Michelle, Vicki, Sally and the other members of the IGARSS team at WSM. It was evident to us that you were most genuinely and deeply committed to ensuring that our conference was as good as it could possibly be. In our minds and no doubt in others, it exceeded expectations. It goes without saying that we would have no hesitation in recommending WALDRONSMITH Management as a PCO. Thank you once again.

Dr Peter Woodgate & Dr Simon Jones – General Co-Chairs, IGARSS 2013

The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) recently held its 2013 Annual Scientific Meeting at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.  The conference team at WALDRONSMITH Management (WSM) worked tirelessly with our Organising Committee to deliver a truly magnificent event, which is supported by our record number of just over 2000 delegates and 150 exhibitors.

The WSM team delivered on all aspects of our meeting in a professional, timely manner and their understanding of the College’s and the Committee’s needs contributed to the success of the event. Their work in overseeing and managing delegates, speakers, exhibitors, venues etc. while maintaining a sound budget, allowed the Organising Committee to concentrate on the detailed nature of the scientific program.

WSM were supportive, flexible and innovative in number of key areas associated with the introduction of new opportunities and new technical requirements for the conference such as a Mobile App and Electronic Posters.

On behalf of the College and the Organising Committee, sincere thanks are extended to our WSM team for all your efforts in delivering a truly outstanding event.
Mr Mark Harrison, General Manager Fellowship Affairs – ANZCA 2013

In February of this year the 10th International Congress of Andrology was held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre jointly hosted by the Fertility Society of Australia in conjunction with the International Society of Andrology.

The Congress attracted delegates from over 30 different countries and WALDRONSMITH Management once again provided excellent service in every respect.  The experience at WSM helped guide us through the hurdles of a precarious budget to ensure that this memorable event went off without a glitch and that the budget wasn’t compromised in doing so. WSM have done an amazing job with this Congress. Thank you so much for all of your level headedness and support through it all. I don’t think we could have done it without you and the team!

The FSA looks forward to continuing their ongoing relationship with the team at WALDRONSMITH Management.

Professor Rob McLachlan – Convenor ICA 2013

The Fertility Society of Australia hosted the recent FSA 2012 Conference at SkyCity Convention Centre, Auckland, New Zealand.  The conference was an overwhelming success and on behalf of the Organising Committee I would like to thank WALDRONSMITH Management for their support and assistance in delivering an excellent onsite experience for all delegates.

The inaugural use of the Conference SMART App was well received by all delegates.  The easily downloadable App was fully integrated with the conference website, providing delegates access to all relevant information both prior to and during the conference.

As Convenor it was a pleasure to showcase a great scientific program, fantastic conference dinner and the wonderful city of Auckland to the conference attendees and am sure they enjoyed their experience in New Zealand.

Dr Mary Birdsall, Convenor – FSA 2012

We recently held the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA) Annual Scientific Meeting in Canberra, Australia. Certainly the highlight for me and many of our delegates was the unique opportunity to hold the Gala Dinner at Parliament House. The experience at WSM helped guide us through the hurdles of a precarious budget to ensure that this memorable event went off without a glitch and that the budget wasn’t compromised in doing so.

WSM have done an amazing job with this Conference. Thank you so much for all of your level headedness and support through it all. I don’t think we could have done it without you and the team!

Dr Carolyn Ellaway, Convenor – HGSA 2012

The Trans-Tasman Endodontic Conference has a strong relationship with WALDRONSMITH Management and the development of the Conference over the years. For the first time this year we took the initiative, with the assistance of WSM, to introduce their Phone App to the Conference. The easy to use Phone App became a great tool onsite and we received positive feedback. We are certainly going to continue with this Phone App in the future and explore the possibilities with WSM of the additional benefits that we can bring to our sponsors as well as new functionality to the delegates.

Dr Daniel Farmer, President ASE – Co Chair TTEC 2012

On behalf of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians’ (RACP) Conference Business Committee, I’d like to thank WALDRONSMITH Management (WSM) for working closely with us to deliver a successful RACP Congress 2011 in Darwin. This event is a key activity on our program calendar each year and includes a highly detailed and complex scientific program for more than a thousand of our Physician Fellows and Trainees.

The team at WSM provided us with the support we needed to manage the requirements of a large number of internal and external stakeholders and importantly, deliver a successful Congress and to manage the specific issues of Darwin as a location. We look forward to working with the WSM team on our flagship RACP Future Directions in Health Conference 2012 in Brisbane next year.

Mr Sasha Grebe, Director, Professional Affairs & Advocacy, The Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

The Organisers of the joint 2011 International Quantum Electronics Conference / Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Pacific Rim would like to congratulate WALDRONSMITH Management (WSM) on their outstanding performance in helping make this conference a great success.

This is the first time that CLEO Pacific Rim has been held in Australia, and just the second time that IQEC has been held here.  With a total of 1,016 delegates the conference broke numerous records, being the largest conference on lasers and their applications to be held in Australia and in the Southern Hemisphere.  It was also the largest gathering of Australian participants in this field, the largest CLEO Pacific Rim conference, and only the second largest joint conference with IQEC by a few score delegates (the largest being in Japan in 2005).

The Organising Committee benefited enormously from the professionalism and the high degree of organisation exhibited by WSM, who made our task significantly easier by ensuring that all milestones were met and nothing fell between the cracks.  Especially on the financial side – where regular budget updates were provided and approvals sought on all items indicating whether they were above or within budget – we were able to maintain a clear picture of where we were heading.

We were particularly impressed with their responsiveness and the proactive manner in which they solicited support for the conference.  As one example, we appreciated the initiative they showed in contacting and dealing with prospective exhibitors and sponsors for the conference.

The conference itself ran smoothly and efficiently thanks to the efforts of WSM, and the vast majority of delegates went away satisfied with their experience.  The benchmark set by this conference will establish a high standard for the series for many years to come, in no small part due to the contribution made by WSM.

Ken Baldwin, General Chair, IQEC/CLEO PR 2011

The McDonalds Owner Operator Convention was successfully held in Adelaide in March 2011. This is the third time that we have employed the services of WALDRONSMITH Management (WSM), after two previous events in Melbourne and Perth. We had 620 Owner Operators and their partners, Corporate staff, suppliers and business partners attend a action packed three days, that showcased all of the wonderful attributes that South Australia has to offer. The “Long Lunch” at the Adelaide Cricket oval was an outstanding and extremely well organised event that led to comments like “the Long Lunch was a stroke of genius” and I have lost count as to how many delegates have told me that it was the “best McDonalds Conference that they had attended”.

It was a pleasure to work with Kate Smith, Jade Comerford our Conference Manager and all of the WALDRONSMITH Management team who brilliantly executed the Convention Committee’s brief ensuring that the convention delivered on our promise of providing a fantastic environment for fun, fellowship and a unique South Australian food and wine experience. We are all looking forward to working with the team from WALDRONSMITH Management at our 2013 Convention in New Zealand.”

Graham Delbridge – McDonalds Owner Operator and Convention Committee Chair 2011

The 19th Congress of the Australian Institute of Physics (incorporating the 25th Australian Conference on Optical Fibre Technology) was held at the Melbourne Convention Centre from 5-9 December 2010 with 800 delegates. I was very impressed by the professionalism of the staff at WSM in all aspects of the organisation of the Congress, whether it was working with the Committees, assisting delegates, negotiating with the venue and interacting with sponsors and exhibitors. WSM also demonstrated the flexibility to handle, with flair, the unexpected developments that are an inevitable feature of organising a large and complex event. Working to tight deadlines and a firm budget, the work done by WSM underpinned an excellent conference that showcased Australian physics and provided a warm and inspiring environment for the community to come together.

Dr Ann Roberts & Dr Andrew Peele

The Australian International Aerospace Congress (AIAC) held recently at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre is a confederation of conferences forming the preeminent Aerospace Technical event in Australia.  A competitive tender process for our PCO organisation has been won by WALDRONSMITH Management three times running as a result of proposals tuned very specifically to our needs with excellent knowledge of our event.  In the organising and running of AIAC14, WSM have delivered on all key aspects of their proposal helping the Congress to grow this year strongly despite economic challenges still facing the Aerospace and Defence sectors in Australia.

The number and nature of conferences included in our congress changes with each running of the event and working together we have been able to readily adapt AIAC to meet new challenges and broaden our event to successfully incorporate international aerospace symposia.  The increasing success with each running of AIAC increases our importance on the international stage for Aerospace technical fora and we expect to be able to continue to improve the delegate experience with this agile approach to creating the event afresh.
My thanks go to WSM and their Conference Managers for delivering true to their proposal and enabling the Committee to concentrate on the content and not on processes and providing control instead of complication.  The result was memorable and we are all rightly proud of what was achieved.

Don Love, Congress Chairman AIAC14

On behalf of Orygen Youth Health Research Centre I wanted to extend our sincere thanks to the WALDRONSMITH team for all of your efforts in making the International Society of Social and Personality Disorders (ISSPD) Conference a great success. The professionalism of your team and the attention to detail, timelines and the careful eye on the ever present budget issues was invaluable and ultimately lead to the success of this international event. In particular your support of our Scientific Committee is worth commenting on. The detailed work undertaken to ensure the program was spot on was exemplary.

We have had incredibly positive feedback from the delegates, the ISSPD and our staff who were involved in the planning of the event. As a result of the expert and excellent assistance provided by Waldron Smith we have set a new benchmark for future ISSPD Conferences. Feel free to call on us if you ever need a referee!

Ms Kerryn Pennell – ISSPD 2011 Organising Committee

“The Inaugural International Youth Mental Health Conference attracted over 1000 delegates from the mental health field and showcased research and evidence based best practice presentations across the key areas of youth well-being and mental health. We expect this will be the first of many similar conferences, bringing together innovators, practitioners, researchers, young people and families to showcase the best of youth mental health innovation from around the globe. It was a pleasure to work with Kate Smith and the supportive WALDRONSMITH Management team from the initial planning stages and watch IYMH grow into an outstanding success for all participants”.

“The 2010 International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICONN) brought together Australian and International industry, government and research sectors to explore advances and latest breakthroughs in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is the science of the very small, involving the use of materials measured in billionths of a metre.

Held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in February with delegates from 24 countries and 25 exhibitors, ICONN 2010 has been referred to as one of the most successful ever offering long term benefits to the field both nationally and internationally’’

Dr Catherine Foley – Immediate Past President of the Australian Institute of Physics

WALDRONSMITH Management proved to be a high quality and reliable contributor to the success of 9ICSHMO. Organising this conference was always going to be challenging. Ours was an international scientific conference covering many themes and with 471 delegates from 27 different countries. I believe that the knowledgable, experienced, flexible and friendly staff from WSM made the local organising committee’s job much easier and helped make the conference rewarding and enjoyable for delegates. I would have no hesitation in working with WSM again on future scientific conferences.

Neil Plummer, Chair Local Organising Committee 9th International Conference on Southern Hemisphere Meteorology and Oceanography (9ICSHMO) 2004/05/06/07/08/09/10/11/12
