McDonalds Donates Convention Profits to Victorian Bushfire Appeal

WALDRONSMITH Management has worked with many Organising Committees, since our inception in 1994, but would like to particularly congratulate the Organising Committee of the biennial McDonalds Owner Operator Convention for their enormous generosity and community support in times of need.

In the lead up to their 2009 Convention the Victorian Bushfires had gripped the state and the nation and would come to be recognised as the worst natural disaster in Australia's history.

At the time, Mike Rodgers, the Convention Convenor, and his Organising Committee met and immediately announced that all surplus funds from the Convention will be donated to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. Additional funds were raised on site from an auction.

The Convention profits together with the contribution of Owner Operators from across the country has achieved a very generous donation in excess of a $1,000,000.

It certainly was an uplifting experience for our team working with an Organising Committee with such a community spirit.

Meetings & Events Association Bushfire Appeal Luncheon

On April 16 2009, the Meetings Events Association has joined with the Rotary Club of Southbank to arrange a luncheon aimed at providing assistance to the Bushfire Appeal.

Held at the Melbourne Convention Centre, the lunch provides an opportunity for our industry to come together and collectively support the cause. To assist in this cause, WALDRONSMITH Management is managing the luncheon registrations from our industry.

The lunch will feature Gill Hicks, survivor of the 2005 London Bombings, and the Victorian Police Commissioner, Christine Nixon, sharing their professional and personal insights in how to rebuild lives in the wake of disaster. It promises to be a very real and positive approach to the rebuilding and recovery that lies ahead.

More details and registration can be accessed via the following link and we would encourage our clients, suppliers and colleagues throughout the meetings and events community to attend.

Conference Wrap Up & Feedback

Since our last newsletter in November 2008 we have worked on a wide range of Conferences alongside a stimulating and challenging group of Organising Committees.

WALDRONSMITH Management has worked with our key suppliers to meet the many logistical, infrastructure and resource challenges and continued to strive for the level of service and care that not only meets our clients' expectations, but ideally, exceeds them.

Feedback includes:

“With the expert assistance of the WALDRONSMITH Management team, the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education held at Melbourne & Olympic Parks from December 7-11 2008 was an outstanding success.

With over 3,500 delegates representing 65 countries, 700 abstract papers submitted and 28 concurrent sessions the conference was a truly uplifting experience for all involved.” Lionel Bamblett, VAEAI

“The Thirteenth Australian International Aerospace Conference, AIAC 13, was held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre 9-12 March in conjunction with the Australian International Airshow, and once again it was a great success.

The Congress comprised of four conferences, the Thirteenth Australian Aeronautical Conference, the Sixth DSTO International Conference on Health and Usage Monitoring, the Seventh Australian Pacific Vertiflite Conference on Helicopter technology and the Third Australasian Unmanned Air Vehicles Conference.

The Congress was hosted by the Royal Aeronautical Society and Engineers Australia, and very professionally managed by WALDRONSMITH Management under the direction of a congress committee comprising DSTO, RAAF, State Government, Airshow and Industry representatives.

Highlights of the Congress were the quality of the conference presentations and the calibre of the keynote speakers, the guest dinner speaker Australian Astronaut Andy Thomas, the air show itself and the smooth running of the whole proceedings.

It went without a hitch and all who contributed to the organisation and running of the Congress should give themselves a big pat on the back!” David Graham AIAC13 Chairman

Thank you to our clients for entrusting us with the management of your Conferences and to our key suppliers for the support and assistance you have given us.

We could not achieve, or exceed, without your support.
